Dársenas Square is a quiet waterfront park in Old San Juan. After a rainy morning of walking through cobblestone streets, we found this little plaza on the southwestern shore of the old city. Some street vendors and food trucks set up here, but the morning was mostly quiet, and we had the views of San Juan Bay all to ourselves. Since this is a cruise terminal, it’s not surprising to find a large ferry docked at the pier.
This ship, the Kydon, is operated by Ferries del Caribe, and offers a regular ferry service between Santo Domingo and San Juan. Little did we know that shortly after our brief encounter, it would be involved in a minor accident.
